If the price of our puppies is your first question, then we are probably not the breeder for you. The total expenses above for one litter are just the tip of the iceberg, a mere glimpse into the dedication and investments we pour into every aspect of our breeding program. This doesn't include the tens of thousands we've invested in our state-of-the-art puppy room, the comprehensive curriculum we've meticulously developed, or the majority of the supplies needed for whelping and puppy care.
Let's not forget the health testing for the stud, a crucial step in ensuring the well-being of our puppies. Even if we paid a stud fee, there's an additional $800-$2000 invested in his testing alone. And that's not all. Emergency situations are a reality in the world of breeding – a sudden need for a c-section can set us back $5,000, and a severe case of mastitis can incur costs exceeding $2,000.
Remarkably, none of these calculations account for the countless hours I spend with our puppies, seven days a week, with no days off, no exceptions. It doesn't matter if I'm sick, tired, or it's a holiday – our puppies receive top-notch care. Holidays, games, birthday parties – these may be missed, but it's a sacrifice willingly made to raise our sweet Labradoodle puppies. There are no breaks when it comes to caring for these little lives, and I wouldn't change a thing.
This is more than a breeding program; it's a labor of love, a commitment to excellence, and a testament to the belief that every puppy deserves the very best start in life.
Raising our Labradoodle puppies is a labor of love, but it's no easy feat. It's costly, with unexpected expenses that can hit hard. Beyond the puppy cuddles, there's a lot of less glamorous work—like cleaning up after them (a ton of poop cleaning, to be exact). Unexpected costs can pop up at any time, often reaching into the thousands.
Aside from the hands-on care, there are hours spent capturing adorable moments in pictures, updating our website, managing social media, reviewing applications, and chatting with potential families. It's a whirlwind, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
This isn't just a job—it's my passion. Every puppy carries a piece of my heart and a commitment to their well-being. So, when you choose one of our Labradoodles, you're not just getting a pet; you're getting a piece of this profound love for the breed.
Thank you for being part of this journey and understanding the dedication that goes into raising these wonderful dogs.
Before you jump at the chance to bring home a puppy for a few hundred dollars or, worse, for free, take a moment to reflect on what lies beneath that seemingly irresistible offer. Consider how that puppy was raised, what was invested in its well-being, and the care it received from day one.
Ask yourself: Was it given the best start in life? Are the parents well taken care of and health-tested? Is the puppy raised following a curriculum? Is it being nourished with high-quality food? Look closely at the surroundings in the pictures. Is it being raised indoors in a clean environment? (Feel free to check out our "Puppy Room" page to see where our puppies thrive!)
We've all seen those posts with cute puppy pictures, but have you ever stopped to wonder about the conditions behind the scenes? We often come across images of puppies with backgrounds that are downright disheartening. If they're willing to share that aspect, what else might be going on?
Buying responsibly isn't cheap. It's an investment in a life, a commitment to ensuring that your new family member has the best possible start. Think twice before supporting someone who "just wants their dog to have a cute litter of pups." It's time to stop this kind of breeding, to prioritize the welfare of these animals over a quick sale.
Choosing where you get your puppy is more than just a transaction; it's a decision that impacts lives. Let's make it a choice for responsible breeding, for the well-being of the animals, and for a lifetime of love and companionship.
If the cost of acquiring a puppy from a responsible breeder seems challenging, I urge you to consider the incredible option of adoption from a reputable rescue. At Raising Doodles, we pour our hearts into every aspect of breeding, ensuring that our puppies not only bring joy but also come with the support and information needed for their success.
It pains me to hear stories of families who, eager to bring a furry friend into their homes, end up with little to no guidance from irresponsible breeders. Our commitment is different. We believe in setting our puppies up for a lifetime of love, health, and happiness. We are more than just a breeder; we are a source of knowledge, support, and passion for every family that welcomes one of our puppies.
Whether you decide to adopt or shop, please do it responsibly. The journey of adding a furry family member should be filled with joy, responsibility, and a shared commitment to their well-being. If you ever have questions or concerns, know that we are here for you, not just as breeders but as advocates for the welfare of every puppy we bring into this world.
Thank you for considering the impact of your choice and for embracing the opportunity to add a fur baby to your life responsibly and passionately.
